2021-2022 Beach Renourishment
On October 13, 2020, the Board of County Commissioner (BCC) approved the 2020 Beach Renourishment Project. Contract 20-7797 was awarded to Earth Tech Enterprises, Inc. to haul and place sand on Naples Beach from Doctors Pass to just north of Lowdermilk Park. Stewart Materials in Immokalee will provide sand for the project through a separate existing material supply contract. Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) will be performed by Collier County Coastal Zone Management (CZM) with third party auditing and quality assurance provided by Taylor Engineering.
The project will utilize the Lowdermilk Park beach access at the northern edge of the property to place the sand on the beach via a truck haul operation. Mobilization and staging are expected to begin in the last week of October, 2020. Sand hauling and placement are scheduled to begin on November 2, 2020 with hopes to have hauling and placement completed before Thanksgiving, but no later than early December, 2020.
Staff is working with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Naples Police Department to define staging areas and coordinate maintenance of traffic support.
Hours of operations will be Monday through Saturday from sunrise to sunset. The project area will be secured with construction fencing which will be periodically adjusted at the north end to re-establish public access to the beach as the renourishment progresses.
