Watershed Proposed Projects

Proposed Projects

Proposed projects are located within the watershed and then in a zoom view with aerials and LIDAR topography and a brief description of the project.  The Appendixes in the report are the "Project Sheets" identified below.

Cocohatchee Corkscrew Watershed

· Conditions: Excess discharge in the wet season, shorter hydroperiods, high ground water contributions to canals.

· Water Quality Impairments: DO, Iron, nutrients, un-ionized ammonia, fecal coliform bacteria, and mercury. (Nutrients, un-ionized ammonia, and mercury are from Lake Trafford before dredging).

· Projects – watershed aerial -

o CC-1 location, with aerial, and with LiDAR; increase storage / slow discharge

o CC-2 location, with aerial, and with LiDAR; increase storage / slow discharge

o CC-3 location, with aerial, and with LiDAR; increase storage / slow discharge

        Project Sheet  CC-3

o Imm. location, with aerial, and with LiDAR; increase storage / improve water quality

Golden Gate Naples Watershed

· Conditions: Increase in area (3X), excess discharge in the year round, shorter hydroperiods, fragmentation of wetlands, high ground water contributions to canals.

· Water Quality Impairments: DO, iron, copper, and fecal coliform bacteria.

· Projects – watershed aerial -

o GG-1-3 location, with aerial, and with LiDAR; increase storage / slow discharge

        Project Sheet GG1-3,  Project Sheet

o GG-4-7 location, with aerial, and with LiDAR; increase storage / slow discharge

          Project Sheet GG-5

o GG-8-10 location, with aerial, and with LiDAR; increase storage / slow discharge

o GG-11-12 location, with aerial, and with LiDAR; increase storage, diversion to Rookery Bay

        Project Sheet GG-12

    Rookery Bay Watershed

· Conditions: Decrease in area, excess discharge in wet season, shorter hydroperiods, discharge deficit in dry season, high ground water contributions to canals.

· Water Quality Impairments: DO, nutrients, and fecal coliform bacteria.

· Projects – watershed aerial -

o RB-1&2 location, with aerial, and with LiDAR; spreader swale /overland discharge

Project Sheet RB-1, Project Sheet RB-2

o RB-3-5 location, with aerial, and with LiDAR; increase storage

        Project Sheet RB-3

o RB-6-9 location, with aerial, and with LiDAR; increase storage / slow discharge

       Project Sheet  RB-8

Faka Union, Fakahatchee, Okaloacoochee Baron River Watersheds

· Conditions: Excess discharge in wet season, shorter hydroperiods, and high ground water contributions to canals.

· Water Quality Impairments: DO, nutrients, and fecal coliform bacteria.

Project proposals within these watersheds are conceptual and require additional evaluation to determine the need and applicability for achieving the goals.  With the exception of FA-1 the projects are proposed within existing Rural Land Stewardship Area (RLSA) designated Flowway, Habitat, and Water Retention Stewardship Areas.  The RLSA program has incentives for restoration and stormwater treatment within these stewardship areas.  These projects are expected to be implemented under this program.

· Projects – watershed aerial -

o FO-1-5 with RLSA, with aerial, and with LiDAR; ditch block and or regrade

o FH- 1-3 with RLSA, with aerial, and with LiDAR; ditch blocks to reduce drainage

o FA-1 location, with aerial, and with LiDAR; increase storage / slow discharge
