 Poincianna

Collier County is a wonderful place to live, work, and play. This is in large part due to the many different environments that the county has to offer.

We are able to enjoy beautiful golf courses and neighborhoods, rural areas that give homeowners a chance to work in the surrounding towns and yet maintain a sense of privacy, commercial districts that offer shopping and dining for every taste. And don’t forget we live in a paradise that many can only infrequently visit!

We are also fortunate to have as well the fragile beauty of the Picayune and Fakahatchee Strand as well as the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary where we can see the Old Florida Everglades and all its beauty.

We are unique from many other counties and even states in that we have so many endangered and protected plant and animal species such as the Florida Panther, Gopher Tortoise, Manatee, and the Bald Eagle just to name a few. Collier County is even the home to the elusive Ghost Orchid! Collier County is also one of the rare parts of the United States where new plant species are still being found by biologists.

For this reason Collier County has created many regulations and restrictions on how we treat the environment we love and live in. Please follow the links to the left for information on these rules as established by our Land Development Code.
