An electrical subcontractor may be required to install the electrical hook up on residential hot water heaters installed in semi-detached, townhouses, and condominiums. It shall be the responsibility of the plumbing contractor to notify the owner before the work proceeds that an electrical subcontractor may be required. The plumbing contractor shall be responsible for the hot water heater installation only, and if they choose they may add an electrical subcontractor to their permit at the time of permitting. In circumstances where an electrical subcontractor is required, but the work has not been completed, the plumbing inspector shall issue a notice to the owner that the electrical hook up must be brought up to code.

“Such contractor shall subcontract, with a qualified contractor in the field concerned, all other work incidental to the work but which is specified herein as being the work of a trade other than that of a plumbing contractor.” – Florida State Statues Section 0489.105
