Citizen Corps
This committee was established on November 5, 2002 by Ordinance No. 02- 56, as amended by
Ordinance No. 16-21, to advise the Board of County Commissioners on all hazards
preparedness and other related issues; to act as a coordinating agency for activities that support
an all hazards approach to threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to Collier County; to
assist in the recruitment of volunteers by publicizing and expanding existing community
programs; to assist in achieving and maintaining accreditation through the Emergency
Management Accreditation Program; to facilitate communication between Collier County and
State and Federal agencies on all hazards activities, as well as to enable Collier County to
identify outside resources such as grants, training opportunities and equipment.
The committee shall consist of 9 voting members, one from each of the following organizations:
Community Emergency Response Team; Collier County Medical Reserve Corps.; Collier County
Fire Chiefs Association; Civil Air Patrol; Coast Guard Auxiliary; American Red Cross; Salvation
Army; Retired Senior Volunteer Program; and Collier County business/industry. Each member
shall be considered a liaison between their respective organization and the committee, and shall
be recommended by their organization to the Board of County Commissioners for consideration
for appointment to the committee for a four year term.
Expert consultants from private and governmental emergency services agencies as listed below
are strongly encouraged to attend on behalf of their employer, in a non-voting capacity: City of
Naples, City of Marco Island, Everglades City, Collier County Emergency Medical Services,
Collier County Health Department, District 20 Medical Examiner, law enforcement/neighborhood
watch, Collier County Emergency Management, Naples Community Hospital (NCH) Healthcare
System, Physicians Regional Healthcare System; Collier County Sheriff's Office.
