Parks and Recreation Month at The
Drones in Paradise Independence Day Celebration

National Parks & Recreation Month" is celebrated in July to highlight the importance of parks and recreation in enhancing communities and promoting healthy, active lifestyles. This July, Collier County Parks & Recreation is celebrating with the theme Where You Belong! 

Parks are at the center of endless happy experiences and memories — special moments that park and recreation professionals help make happen. Staff at the Collier County Parks & Recreation Division are leading initiatives and providing opportunities for people of all ages to achieve healthier lifestyles, understand better and appreciate nature/conservation, and come together as a community through a variety of outdoor programming and events. These events and activities offer opportunities for people of all ages and interests to connect with nature, explore outdoor recreation opportunities, and celebrate the value of parks and recreation during National Parks & Recreation Month.  

Collier County Parks and Recreation kicks off Parks and Recreation Month at the Drones in Paradise Independence Day Celebration at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex on Saturday, July 6, 2024.  Festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m., which include live entertainment, live art, activities on the Great Lawn, and food trucks. Stop by the Parks & Recreation Booth and get a special prize to celebrate Parks & Recreation Month. The Drone Light Show will begin at 9:00 p.m. Paradise Coast Sports Complex is at 3940 City Gate Boulevard N., Naples.  

Other events planned for National Parks and Recreation Month include:

July 13th – Parks & Recreation Month Celebration at Live at the Cove

Location:  Paradise Coast Sports Complex, 3940 City Gate Boulevard N., Naples 

Time:  5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Description:  Stop by your Live at the Cove at Paradise Coast Sports Complex and pick up a free drawstring tote bag to celebrate Parks & Recreation Month.

July 17th – Reeling With a Ranger at Freedom Park

Location:  Freedom Park, 515 Golden Gate Pkwy, Naples

Time:  6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Description:  Reeling With A Ranger will be held at Freedom Park to celebrate Parks & Recreation Month! Children and parents are welcome.  Cast a line and reel in a catch while learning or chatting with a Ranger.  Equipment and bait will be provided.

July 20th – Parks & Recreation Month Lollipop Day at Max Hasse Community Park Yard Sale

Location:  Max Hasse Community Park, 3390 Golden Gate Blvd W, Naples

Time:  8:00 p.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Description: Stop by the Yard Sale at Max Hasse Community Park to pick up a delightful, sweet lollipop to celebrate National Parks & Recreation Month.

July 26th – Sugden Regional Park Ski Show

Location: Sugden Regional Park, 4284 Avalon Dr, Naples

Time: 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Description: Join us for a free Ski Show at Sugden Regional Park for National Parks & Recreation Month. Admission is free. 

July 27th – Parks & Recreation Month Freezer Pop Day Big Corkscrew Island Regional Park Aquatic Complex

Location:  Big Corkscrew Island Regional Park Aquatic Complex, 810 39th Ave NE, Naples

Time:  12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Description:  In the heat of Summer, a freezer pop brings the sweet chill of relief! On July 27, get a free frozen sweet treat to celebrate Parks & Recreation Month.  Entrance fee required.
