Collier County Commissioner Burt Saunders, District 3, invites the public to attend his Community Education Event for the Collier County State Veterans’ Nursing Home on Wednesday, May 29, at 5:00 p.m., at the VFW Post 7721, 13131 Collier Blvd., Naples, Florida. Doors will open for the event at 4:30 p.m., and seating is limited.
Commissioner Saunders will be joined by Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, Major General (RET) James Hartsell, and HMCS (RET) Bob Asztalos. The presentations will include an update from the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs (FDVA) concerning the status of the proposed long-term care campus in Golden Gate City that will include a 120-bed skilled nursing facility, adjoining adult day health care, and a veterans community center. The goal is to provide a spectrum of quality long-term care services that our veterans have earned while serving our country.
“Governor DeSantis set a goal for Florida to be the most veteran-friendly state in the nation, and my goal is to make Collier County the most veteran-friendly county in the state. This initiative moves us significantly closer to that goal,” said Commissioner Saunders.
The State Veterans’ Nursing Home will feature 120 skilled nursing beds in two “neighborhoods” of 60 beds. The Adult Day Health Care will have approximately 45 participant slots, allowing family caregivers to hold employment and/or take a well-deserved respite from caring for their loved ones.
More than one commissioner may be present and participate in this event. Discussion may include items for action at a future Board of County Commissioners meeting.
