Collier County EMS to Host Phoenix Award Ceremony

Collier County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will host the annual Phoenix Award Ceremony at the Collier County South Regional Library, 8065 Lely Cultural Pkwy., Naples, Florida, on Friday, May 24, at 10 a.m. This event will coincide with EMS Week and celebrate the dedication and heroic efforts of emergency response personnel.
The Phoenix Award symbolizes resilience and renewal, mirroring the mythological bird that rises from its ashes. Collier County EMS proudly presents this award to recognize the extraordinary contributions of individuals from Collier County EMS, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, local fire districts, law enforcement agencies, and courageous civilians who played a vital role in resuscitating cardiac arrest victims.
Over 200 emergency response personnel will be honored for their outstanding efforts in resuscitating 29 patients without a heartbeat or breathing over a remarkable six-month period. Collier County's resuscitation success rate significantly surpasses the national average, a testament to the exceptional skills and dedication of our responders.
"We commend the unwavering commitment and life-saving skills demonstrated by our emergency response teams and community members," said EMS Chief Bruce Gastineau. "Their actions exemplify the best of our profession and highlight the importance of immediate intervention in cardiac emergencies."
Collier County EMS encourages public engagement in CPR and basic first aid training, fostering a collaborative effort to support our skilled responders and save more lives within our community.
