Re-initiation of Collier County Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study
The Public is Invited to Attend Scoping Meetings
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and non-Federal Sponsor, Collier County, Florida, announce the re-initiation of the Collier County Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study, and invite the public to attend two National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Scoping Meetings. The purpose of the study is to identify coastal storm flood risks from coastal storm surge, to evaluate measures formulated to manage the risk of coastal storm surge flooding to residents, industries, businesses, and infrastructure, and to improve human safety and coastal resiliency in Collier County and connecting municipalities: City of Naples, and City of Marco Island.
The USACE plans to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and to reevaluate and reformulate plans and to reassess environmental impacts from reasonable project alternatives. The scoping process will aid in determining the scope of the analysis and any potential significant impacts. The process will also assist in identifying alternatives and the information needed to evaluate alternatives.
The scoping meetings will include one virtual meeting and one in-person meeting. The virtual meeting will be held on April 18, 2023, from 4 to 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. Please register for the meeting at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_F50-0-gSSkKdjtR57VWPEQ#registration. (If this hyperlink is incompatible, please copy and paste this link into your browser). Registration is free and required; a unique meeting link will be provided immediately after registering. The in-person public meeting will be held on April 26, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the large room at the South Regional Library, located at 8065 Lely Cultural Parkway, Naples, Florida 34113. This meeting will begin with a brief presentation followed by an open-house-style forum. Both meetings will include similar presentations; and both will have opportunities for the public to ask questions.
