All interested members of the public are invited to attend a second public information meeting on the Wilson Boulevard Extension Corridor Study from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8 at the University of Florida/IFAS Extension Office (Multi-purpose Room), 14700 Immokalee Road, Naples, Florida 34120.  There will be a short formal presentation at 5:30 p.m.  Project displays will be available to review during the entire meeting time and project team members will be standing by to assist with any questions.  (A diagram showing the study location and public meeting location is below.)

The study’s goal is to determine a preferred corridor alignment and specifications to connect Golden Gate Boulevard East and Collier Boulevard for improved: access between neighborhoods/destinations; roadway network connectivity; and emergency response.  In 2005, a previous Wilson Boulevard Extension Corridor Study identified three corridors for further evaluation that resulted in near-term and long-term recommendations. This new study plans to build on the previous study by looking at county-owned property to facilitate corridor development and assess environmental impacts, as well as land use and funding/implementation.

The project team reviewed alignment preferences gathered during a public information meeting held on 6/27/22, along with comments from additional stakeholders in the area. The team also completed additional land use, environmental, and transportation planning analysis on alignment options. The project team will provide proposed refined alignment options at the Dec. 8 public information meeting and requests community members input on the latest proposals.

Final conclusions and recommendations of the study are anticipated to be presented to the Board of County Commissioners in spring 2023.
