A brief ribbon cutting ceremony will be held for the Conner Park Refurbishment Project at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 23. Conner Park is located at 495 Bluebill Ave., Naples, FL 34108. A tent for the event will be set up near the southwest corner of Bluebill Avenue/Vanderbilt Drive. Parking is available in the park’s parking lot on the north side of Bluebill Avenue. (A location diagram is at the end of this news release.)
All are welcome to attend. Speakers include Commissioner Penny Taylor, District 4; Transportation Management Services Department Head Trinity Scott; Public Transit and Neighborhood Enhancement Division Director Michelle Edwards Arnold, Parks and Recreation Division Director Barry Williams and Vanderbilt Beach Beautification MSTU Advisory Committee Member Gabriela Miyamoto. Deputy County Manager Amy Patterson will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Pastor Tom Zalewski will provide the invocation.
Conner Park was hit hard by Hurricane Irma in 2017. Now thanks to a $800,000 refurbishment project it is a beautiful, peaceful place for community members to enjoy. There are new sidewalks, signs, a decorative fence along the canal bank, a hedge that screens residential properties, a decorative wall that screens the lift station as well as new irrigation and landscape.
