Free Rides on Collier Area Transit (CAT) on Friday, November 5, 2021 for Try Transit Day and a Public Workshop
Collier County, FL - Collier Area Transit (CAT) is offering free rides on all fixed-route buses on Friday, November 5, 2021 to promote Try Transit Day. In recognition of Mobility Week in Florida, the Collier County Board of Commissioners and Collier Area Transit (CAT) are promoting Try Transit Day on Friday, November 5, 2021, to raise awareness of transit as a safe and sustainable transportation option as well as to promote the positive effects that transit has on the environment.
Try Transit Day is intended to encourage residents and visitors to use public transit. The use of public transit helps reduce traffic congestion, decrease energy consumption, improve air quality, and promote health and physical fitness. This event is organized in collaboration with the Florida Department of Transportation’s Commuter Connector program. Individuals who use alternative transportation modes such as transit, carpooling or cycling can track their trips at http://www.swflroads.com/commute-connector/commute-options/index.html and will be entered to win prizes donated by Commuter Connector.
CAT will also be holding Public Workshops at the Government Center Transfer Station, Radio Rd. Transfer Station and Department of Health Transfer Stop in Immokalee to discuss upcoming seasonal route changes that go into effect on Sunday, November 21, 2021 and to answer questions about using the rideCAT app. Refreshments will be served.
