The Collier County Sheriff's Office is looking for positive, proactive, energetic, enthusiastic individuals that support our core principles of community, safety, service to fill the position of Dispatcher Trainee. Starting salary at $25.11 per hour, with additional monies for prior emergency dispatch experience.

Job summary:

Dispatcher job duties include answering 9-1-1 telephones, providing life-saving medical instructions, transmitting vital information to emergency personnel via the radio, relaying information via the Computer-Aided Dispatch terminal and answering administrative lines. 

Performs a variety of complex activities linking the recording, monitoring and dissemination of emergency and non-emergency information between and among the public, law enforcement officers, emergency medical and firefighting personnel. 

The Collier County Sheriff's Office is the Public Safety Answering Point for the county.  We are a 24 hour, 7 days a week operation, providing dispatch services for CCSO field units, Marco Island Police Department, 6 Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services.  We are actively recruiting qualified applicants to join our team.

All applicants must have the ability to work any shifts; days, nights, weekends, and holidays along with overtime that may be mandatory.

Essential job duties:

  • Assists law enforcement officers and others with information necessary to perform calls for service.
  • Answers requests for information and complaints from the general public.
  • Dispatches emergency 9-1-1 calls for service from the public and dispatches to appropriate responders.
  • Processes requests for information through the NCIC/FCIC teletype systems.
  • Monitors agency unit radio communication.
  • Monitors Collier County Sheriff's Office and bank alarm board.

Job qualifications:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Applicants must have a high school diploma/GED.
  •  Applicants must be able to accurately pass a computer based skills test.
  • Applicants must be able to pass the applicant testing, full police background investigation, polygraph, psychological exam, and medical screening.
  • Schedule flexibility and multi-tasking are fundamental.

Skills in:

  •  Use of computer keyboard and data input.
  •  Use of communications equipment, radio, teletype and standard recording equipment.
  •  Establishing and maintaining effective work relationships.
  •  Effective public relations.
  • Taking complete and accurate messages.

Training:

  •  In-house Training Academy to obtain a Florida DOH Public Safety Telecommunicator license,
  •  On the job training by Communications Training Officers, and
  •  Emergency Medical Dispatch training, provided.
