FAIR (Fighting Against Insurance Rates)

The last public meeting for 2008 for F.A.I.R. (Fighting Against Insurance Rates) will be held on Thursday April 3 at 5:30 PM at the Naples Area Board of Realtors on 1455 Pine Ridge Road.


F.A.I.R. is a non profit grass roots organization organized by a group of citizens in 2006 to fight the escalating insurance rates. Representatives from F.A.I.R. have been to Tallahassee twice to speak to our legislators; have, through the County, hired an actuary to do a study of the rates charged in Collier to see if they were “fair”; have a web site which is set up to be an educational tool for the public; have sent out flyers to 15,000 businesses in Collier about F.A.I.R.; representatives have spoken at numerous HOA’s, condo associations and service organizations in Collier. The group still continues to fight for “fair” property/wind insurance rates for the residents of Collier. What we ask for in return your support, either by a financial contribution (that is our only means of funding) or by attending our meetings or by signing on as a member of F.A.I.R. (it is free). 


Terry Cerullo is the Community Outreach Coordinator for the FLorida State Department of Financial Services. He will speak to us about the My Safe Florida Home program set up by the State to help you with remediation of your home to make it more hurricane proof. They offer a free wind inspection to all single – family home owners. Mr. Cerullo will also bring us up to date on the latest happenings in Tallahassee on the insurance bill.
