IMPORTANT NOTICES

The effective date for the Florida Building Code, 8th Edition (2023), is December 31, 2023.

Effective October 1, 2024,  the building permit application and revision application form are no longer required to be submitted with a new permit application.

*Subcontractor Contact Types can now be added to the portal at submittal without a subcontractor affirmation form. Subcontractors that are not added at application will require a subcontractor form to be provided through conditions.

State Certified contractors may voluntarily register with Collier County to maintain an active status and use the GMD Public Portal to apply for permits and request inspections. NOTICE OF COMMENCEMENT INFORMATION Per Florida Statutes 713.135, a Notice of Commencement (NOC) is required for construction of improvements totaling more than $5,000 between an owner and a contractor related to improvements to real property consisting of single or multiple family dwellings up to and including four units. For A/C repairs or replacements, a notice of commencement is required for improvements more than or equal to $15,000.

Collier County will no longer accept owner builder applications for a building permit by a trust, revocable or irrevocable.  All applications prior to October 1, 2023 will be processed as originally submitted.

House Bill 1059 goes into effect Oct.1, 2021 requiring both the applicant and enforcement agency to take certain action within specified time periods related to Single-Family Residential Dwelling and Commercial building permits. Effective 9/1/2022 all paper revisions will now be accepted electronically. An Authorization Form will be required for this change. Please email completed form to Permitting.Dept@colliercountyfl.gov

Attention: Starting Friday 5/27/2022, it will be a requirement that the 814 - Erosion/Silt inspection has been passed before any other inspections on a permit are scheduled.  This will only impact permits that have a Pending 814 - Erosion/Silt inspection. Requirements to pass this inspection can be found in Land Development Code Section 6.01.05 Soil Erosion and Sediment Control.

The NACo Achievement Awards are for counties with innovative programs that modernize county government and increase services to county residents. The Building Permit Review Standards program was an aggressive initiative to truly cement Naples as a destination location for developers looking to help stabilize the economy.
